After reading the article in the Ecologist called 'Greening the high street, trick or real deal' I stumbled across the 'Conscious Collection' range presented by H&M early April 2011. As a regular browser of H&M stores I was suprised to have not noticed this collection before. With crisp white, fashionable detailed styles, perhaps I hadn't noticed their ethical breeding.
Although the trend of fast fashion is unfortunately creating billions of tonnes of landfill each year, it surely is a step in the right direction and one that is inevitable for the future of the fashion industry. Created solely from a range of environmentally friendly fabrics such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester, it really is a credit to the high street.
My favorite piece from this collection is this organic cotton maxi skirt and this dress worn by the beautiful Natalie Portman:
